SCIENCE

The Scientist

I am a Mexican scientist currently based in Los Angeles. I am conducting research focused on understanding the molecular basis involved in the development and progression of different types of cancer. I am developing innovative therapies based on nucleic acids, called aptamers, to treat cancer.

What is Science?

Science is the systematic study and organized knowledge of the structure and behavior of the natural world through observation and experimentation. It is important because it helps us understand the world around us, solve complex problems, develop new technologies, and improve the quality of life. Science also plays a crucial role in advancing medicine, protecting the environment, and innovating in various areas, making it fundamental to the progress and well-being of humanity.

Where is the Science?

Science manifests itself in numerous aspects of our daily life, from the functioning of the household appliances we use at home to the technology we use to communicate. For example, when cooking, we use principles of chemistry and physics to mix ingredients, apply heat, and transform food. Additionally, when using a smartphone or a computer, we interact with advances in materials science, computer science, and software engineering. Even when observing the cycle of day and night, we are witnessing the outcome of astronomy and physics governing the movement of the Earth and the solar system.

We Are All Scientists

We are all scientists to some extent because we have the ability to observe, ask questions, formulate hypotheses, experiment, and draw conclusions based on the evidence we gather. From an early age, we develop scientific skills by exploring the world around us, learning from our experiences, and building knowledge from our observations. This scientific approach allows us to better understand our environment, make informed decisions, and continue discovering new facets of life. Curiosity and exploration are fundamental in the scientific process, and we all have the innate ability to be scientists in our daily lives.

Would you like to become a scientist and join me on this exciting journey?

Let’s dive into a wide range of scientific topics, from physics and chemistry to molecular biology and astronomy. Students will have the opportunity to explore the fundamental principles of each discipline, as well as their impact on the world around us. With a practical and dynamic approach, this course aims to provide participants with a solid and diverse understanding of the current scientific world.
